Micros are popular where I live (Montana) because we don’t get year round crawling outside. When it’s -30, and we still want to play, an indoor course is awesome. I love my TRX-4M, but I am building a couple SCX24s.

I have a micro x2 that i bought to pair with my HH 2500kv snubnose revolver for my Redcat Fusion crawler. is the 2500kv to high kv for the micro x2? If not where can I find a guide on settings for this setup? Im still getting some cogging on the low end. For what i want to do with this truck id much rather have a lot lower kv but its just what I have for now.

I've been building 1/10 scale crawlers for several years and never could understand what people saw in the micro stuff. But like you said, when covid hit I started seeing more videos about indoor micro crawler courses and said to myself screw it, they are cheap so go for it. I decided to try one and couple years later now I have more than ten micro rigs because it's like they multiply while you're replacing or upgrading parts. I've always wondered why you didn't offer more electronics for micros and now I know why. I'm sure you will do quite well in the 1/24 and 1/18 scale market since most people that I know that have micros also have 1/10 scale rigs and would love to have your products on all the different sized rigs they have.

I ride the river trails in Tulsa on the daily and the etiquette is a mixed bag from regulars. Id love to see more waves and people calling their pass, but its reality and thats asking a lot of real people. :D Add alcohol and lots more people and I cant imagine the chaos. Sounds fun but also like an experience more then anything else :D

I call my passes "approaching on left, passing on left, passing on left, thank you! wave" but sometimes people arent paying attention. Ive had angry surprised people yell at me because they were caught unaware due to headphones or similar. Once in a while they get up on my butt, silly people. Pay attention a bit more maybe :D

The reason they're popular is because people think they're finding a loophole in not spending alot of money to "get into the hobby" but nobody leaves them as is. Spend more than tenth scale stuff on em.. parts are similarly priced for these as tenth scale, and they can get away with it because people buy overpriced parts.

How about you custom design a outrunner brushless system. Do a custom CNC realistic motor cover that also acts as a heat sync while being able to somehow include a built-in mini cooling fan for scale detail and functionality 😮😊 my hybrid mini crawler towtruck build would love you for it!

Our fleet has 3 SCX24 and 3 FMS Smashers and 1 FCX24 Blazer. We upgraded motor in the SCX24 Deadbolt by trimming a little. Hate the tiny hardware but travel well everywhere. Cleaning up the glitter nail polish was a Dirty Job but Somebody’s Gotta Do It. Then it’ll be time to Return The Favor and buy a few of the new micros. Nice tune. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I’ve had a few “small” crawlers and they’re not my thing….parts are so tiny they’re actually hard to work with…takes a lot to get them to perform better than stock…..I definitely prefer 1/10 or 1/6 scale rigs…. I get the appeal for indoor winter fun but not my thing.

I know you aren’t a huge fan of the micro, i sure wish someone could come up with a dig function. I know the space is tiny. Fms is doing a two speed Im just wondering if it could be altered to say make a single axle dig. Make a front dig for these rigs to increase usability in comp settings

Really the only other brand is Dynamite 88t and it’s just ok. I put brass on my SCX24s and after just a few brass upgrades the stock motor struggles to push it around.

Hi. So programming the ESC means you don't have to worry about buying a separate soft-start and low voltage cut off? Or are you buying those devices and configuring them with Castle link? I think you're saying I just need an ESC and a castle link to address those issues

  • @TheShopMiniRC

The current best motors are the micro komodo, mini komodo and cedar motor from Furitek and then the NanoBam v2, ROP & SMP from Mofo. Furitek'sPython Pro esc is also one of the best with it's bluetooth tuning and FOC. and then the Dinky RC ESC is also pretty good (from what i hear) We consider Micro as anything under 1/28. The mini b, mini t, mini z, mini jrx2, and a few others range from 1/16-1/28. Anything smaller is really a micro. (Orlandoo Hunters are 1/32-1/36 and then they go all the way down to 1/76 as "Hobby Grade")

  • @rickcorlett

I own four of the SCX24 micro crawlers and my class 1 rig runs your brushed 050 66T. I only needed to add an aftermarket motor plate. No chassis mods were needed. My class 2 and 3 rigs run MoFo nanoBAM and Furitek Cedar inrunner. The sweet spot for punchy wheel speed and low crawl with the stock gearing seems to be around 3200+kv. I run Dinky D-Drive Escape32 based ESC's and the rev11 FW and his custom tune has imperceptible FOC transition. It just smoothly transitions from slow crawl to go and is better than my Castle Slate Series 1900kv paired with Castle ESC on my 1/10 scale. I wish someone would do a better rear facing mount for SCX24. The typical forward facing mounts put the motor up high so if you reverse the transmission so the motor faces rearward puts weight up in the wrong place. MoFo attempted to make a rear facing mount that keeps the engine low but you are stuck with a giant pinion and unable to adjust your pinion to spur mesh and unable to use mod.5 gears because of the giant pinion requirement. He clearly designed the mount after designing the motor. It would be great if you were able to design a brushless motor that worked in the factory location. The form factor challenge will be managing the overall diameter of the housing so that it clears the transmission.
